📚Summer Book Stack!📚

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

🌟Fair Game Foul Play - Daniel Pascoe

Perfect travel thriller, set in rural Yorkshire complete with marital conflict, epic car crash and golf related murder!

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

🌟The Island of Missing Trees - Elif Shafak

Grief, loss, identity, intergenerational trauma, immigrant and displacement experience and the wisdom of trees, set in Cyprus and shortlisted for Women’s Prize for Fiction 2022. Beautiful heartbreaking writing, absolutely loved it.

🌟 Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet - David Mitchell

I’ve read this meeting-of-cultures love story before and 2nd time around it’s still super fun as Dutch merchants, smugglers, sailors and clerks mingle with Japanese dignitaries, interpreters and priests in 18th century Dejima. The writing is meticulous, witty and lyrical.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

🌟Burnt Sugar - Avni Doshi

Booker prize nominated funny and brutal exploration of mother daughter relationship, memory, love and loss. Enjoyed it.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

🌟Lessons in Chemistry - Bonnie Garmus

Brilliant scientist and single mum Elizabeth Zott turns a daytime cooking show into a chemistry class, revealing bias, barriers, discrimination and exploitation women faced in 50s/60s USA (and still do). Very feminist and very funny.
